MP O’Neill Gordon had the great honor to be this year Canada Day Parade’s Marshal.

On July 1st, Tilly O’Neill Gordon, Member of Parliament for Miramichi, was this year’s 2009 Parade Marshal and lead the Canada Day Parade!

The Canada Day Parade consists of an open invitation to the community for float entries that celebrate our nation's birthday in some form or fashion. Tilly was this year’s 2009 Parade Marshal and lead the parade. The parade route general sees 1500 or more spectators. This year’s parade was a great success with the largest amount of float entries in nearly 5 years despite the weather. The title of Parade Marshal is offered to those individuals in the community that show exemplary leadership or are contributing to the betterment of the community through their actions. Last year's 2008 parade marshal was Mayor Gerry Cormier.

The Canada Day Parade was held once again by the Miramichi Jaycees (http://www.miramichijaycees.com/index.html), the local chapter of the Junior Chamber of Commerce International (http://www.jcicanada.com/) who have held the Miramichi Canada Day Parade for at least 2 decades now.
