Ottawa, Ontario – Thanksgiving is on Monday, October 11 this year. The Parliament of Canada proclaimed Thanksgiving as a national holiday in 1957. Since then the holiday has been celebrated on the second Monday in October.
“I wish everyone in Miramichi and the rest of Canada a marvellous Thanksgiving. It is a time to be thankful for all the good things that happened this year. Recent months have been very good to me and I would like to thank all my fellow Canadians for that,” stated Tilly O’Neill Gordon.
The history of Thanksgiving can be traced back over 2,000 years, when Celtic priests and the Druids celebrated the harvest. Thanksgiving is an attitude of gratitude towards God: graced with many spiritual blessings in Christ, man recognizes God’s love and is grateful for it.
“May you have the opportunity to share prayers and festivities with your loved ones, and enjoy a wonderful meal with the traditional turkey, of course,” concluded Tilly O’Neill Gordon.
